Sunday Rest

May 10, 2008

Tomorrow is again a day for church. Human life has a rhythm of work and rest. Through the Lord’s Day (Sunday), everyone has a chance to enjoy adequate rest and leisure to cultivate our familial, cultural, social and religious lives.

All Christians avoid making unnecessary demands on others that would hinder their observing Sunday rest. Traditional activities (sports, restaurants, etc.) require some people to work on Sundays, but everyone should still take care to set aside sufficient time for leisure, avoiding excesses. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, nos. 2184, 2187)
